A New Private Museum of Antiquities in Olomouc: A Treasure for Lovers and Collectors of Art Objects
A new private museum of antiquities has recently opened in the center of Olomouc, at Denisova 306/21, becoming an interesting addition to the city’s cultural map. The exhibition is operated by Art Collections URBAN, with the support of the auction house Starožitnosti–Galerie USTAR and private collectors.
GALERIE Urban & Vysoudil facilitated the loan of several significant exhibits to the museum’s permanent display.
The museum offers a permanent exhibition of exceptionally high-quality antiques, primarily from the 19th century, complemented by unique artifacts dating from the 16th to the 20th centuries. Visitors can admire, for example, an outstanding collection of Empire clocks, rare pieces of historical furniture, works of art by important authors from the period of the Habsburg Monarchy, and many other rare objects of high collector’s value.
The curator of the museum’s collections is Ing. Pavel Urban, a collector and art dealer known to the wider public from the popular television program Treasure from the Attic. The exhibition, created on the basis of a three-generation collecting tradition of the Urban family and cooperation with prominent private collectors, offers visitors not only a unique aesthetic experience but also a fascinating insight into history.
The opening of this museum brings another cultural gem to Olomouc and offers a new opportunity to discover the beauty and history of antiquities.
